Simon used to organise an annual cricket match between Broadway and Horton Cricket Club and a visiting eleven.
The first commemorative match was arranged by Ross on 13 September 2020. It was a fantastic sunny afternoon, with a large turnout of
spectators (of all ages). And Broadway and Horton (with Ross in the team) won a close match.
The second match was held on Sunday 5th September 2021.
The Simon Stacey Award
Ross has set up The Simon Stacey Award for doing something in "the spirit of the game".
Simon was always keen on sportsmanship and doing things properly, normally with a glass in your hand.
This award can be given for a moment on the pitch, some work for the Club or for something else.
He was keen on Claret and - would you believe - has some in storage that Ross has collected
(what a hero!). He was also keen on golf, so rightfully the award will be a Claret jug for the year
and a bottle of serious Claret.
